Hanley Motorsports Back in Action as Pirelli GT4 America Season Resumes at Road America

Hanley Motorsports is set to race this weekend as the 2023 Pirelli GT4 America season resumes at Road America, August 18th-20th. After posting a victory in Silver class at Circuit of the Americas and the top times in Qualifying sessions at VIRginia International Raceway, the team aims to continue its front-running pace at the famed Wisconsin Road America road course.

While the Pirelli GT4 America series has been on a two-month, mid-summer break, Hanley Motorsports drivers Parker Thompson and Daniel Hanley have stayed active behind the wheel. Since June’s visit to VIRginia International Raceway, Thompson has won races in IMSA series visits to Watkins Glen International and Canadian Tire Motorsports Park. Daniel Hanley has been active in Porsche Sprint Challenge North America where this past weekend at Road America, he impressively drove from last-place on the grid to the podium.

Often referred to as “America’s National Park of Speed,” the historic 4-mile Road America circuit has been a staple in racing for over six decades. A recent repaving of the circuit has led to dramatically faster lap times in 2023, and while the track layout remains the same, some drivers have reported challenges adapting to the new character of the circuit. Daniel remarked that his recent success at the venue should be an advantage when Hanley Motorsports enters competition this weekend. “After a great result in the Porsche here, I’m excited to get behind the wheel in Pirelli GT4 America. The Hanley Motorsports crew always brings a GR Supra GT4 EVO that can run with the best in the field. I have full confidence in my ability to push hard out there.”

Thompson is excited to return to racing at a venue where he has an extensive history. “From the track itself to the atmosphere of the region, Road America is always one of my favorite places to race. It’s been home to some of the most memorable battles and wins of my career. Like myself, Daniel has shown a great affinity for this track. We’re looking for a strong result here this weekend. We may not be challenging the top of the points standings after adversity earlier in our year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make a strong impression on the field here!”

Thompson and Hanley will split driving duties in two, one-hour races scheduled for Saturday and Sunday as part of a busy race weekend that includes a full SRO Motorsports Group America event schedule.
