Hanley Motorsports Aspires to Repeat Win as Pirelli GT4 America Heads to VIR

Jun 13, 2023

ALTON, VA

Following their Pirelli GT4 America Silver class victory at Circuit of the Americas last month, Hanley Motorsports is aiming for a repeat win at VIRginia International Raceway this weekend, June 16 – 18. Amid an intensely competitive field of GT4 race cars, drivers Parker Thompson and Daniel Hanley will lean on their experiences from earlier rounds this year to vie for their second win and second podium of the season.

The iconic Virginia International Raceway has been a staple of American motorsports since its opening in 1957. However, the 17-turn, 3.27-mile road course is one where neither Thompson nor 19-year-old Hanley has abundant experience. Thompson competed here only once previously, in 2021 with Carrera Cup. Hanley raced his first race at VIR just two weeks ago with Porsche Sprint Challenge North America.

“I’m eager to apply what I learned in my recent weekend here,” said Daniel Hanley. “Every race offers opportunities for growth, and I am hopeful to seize that opportunity and deliver a strong performance in races this Saturday and Sunday. No doubt, our win at COTA last month has bolstered our confidence, and we are eager to convert that into success again this weekend.”

Parker Thompson added, “We had a great result at COTA, but at the same time, I’ve been a believer in this team’s potential since the season began. For us to earn our second win of the season though, we’ll need an even greater effort than we showed at COTA! This Pirelli GT4 America series is fiercely competitive. If we didn’t already, I think we have the attention of the other forty-something entries here. We’re going to give it our all. The No. 999 GR Supra GT4 EVO is on point and I can’t wait to get out on this very fast and fun VIR road course.”
